

Makrout is an iconic traditional Algerian pastry, prepared for major celebrations. It is a small diamond-shaped cake, made from a dough based on medium semolina and smen, filled with almonds and flavored with cinnamon. After being fried until golden brown, the makrout is generously dipped in honey flavored with orange blossom water.
